Steve Densmore grew up in Corinth, NY, a small Adirondack Mountain town hugging the banks of the upper Hudson River. The middle child of seven siblings, Steve found peace and joy exploring the outdoor tapestry of streams, trails, and waterfalls that surround the village. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Steve went off to find employment down river at various community newspapers and magazines in the lower Hudson Valley. An award-winning writer and journalist, Steve spent nearly 30 years as a reporter, editor and publisher (sometimes all at the same time!) He founded the Poughkeepsie Beat newspaper in 1995, a gritty weekly that covered that river city like a glove for more than a decade. In 2005, sensing the coming sea change in the print industry, Steve switched tracks and began working as a communications consultant for several Hudson Valley nonprofit organizations. Later Steve launched Choice Words LLC, a strategic communications firm that concentrates on grant writing and public relations for nonprofits, colleges, municipalities, and businesses. The growing firm, based in New Paltz, NY, has raised nearly $70 million in awards for its clients, keeping Steve and his staff working on the cutting edge of exciting new developments springing up from Albany to New York City. He has settled into the Orange County Town of Montgomery with his remarkable wife, Jackie, and their busy children. Despite a rich and robust life, Steve finds himself ever drawn back to his ancestral homeland in the Adirondack Mountains; its culture and lore continues to provide fodder for exploration and inspiration.
